At first women were reluctant to talk. They were a little shy. But once they got going, you couldn’t stop them. – Eve Ensler, Introduction
The Gender Equity Center at Johnson & Wales University – Providence hosts a benefit performance of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues every year. All proceeds go to a non-profit charity aimed at helping women, and it changes annually with the cast voting on who to donate too.
This year I volunteered to design the campaign for the performances and created two posters, a t-shirt for cast and crew, and a program to be handed out at the shows. Without much information on what the actual show looked like, I tried my best to get the underlying message across with simple illustrations and color palette. The only restriction – any illustration I created should be inclusive to all women.
